On Tuesday, December 17th, IPI is hosting a Global Leaders Series event featuring H.E. Mr. Marcel AMON-TANOH, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Côte d’Ivoire. Following the Foreign Minister’s presentation, there will be a moderated discussion with the Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations Department of Peacekeeping Operations, H.E. Mr. Jean-Pierre LACROIX.

H.E. Mr. Marcel Amon-Tanoh is the current Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Côte d’Ivoire. Following his graduation with a degree in sociology from Paris VIII University and the National University of Côte d’Ivoire, Mr. Amon-Tanoh joined the Institute for Research, Economic and Commercial Surveys (LRSEC) in Paris as a researcher, before embarking on a career in the private sector following his return to Côte d’Ivoire. In 1999, he became the Director of the Cabinet of the President of the Rally of the Republicans, Dr. Alassane Ouattara.

In August 2002, he began his career as a government official as Minister of Transport then served as Minister of Tourism (March 2003–December 2005) and Minister of Construction, Urban Planning and Housing (December 2005-February 2010). Between December 2010 and February 2012, he served as the Director of the Cabinet of the President of the Republic. He later served as Minister Cabinet Director of the President of the Republic from March 2012 until November 2016, before his appointment as Foreign Minister in January 2017.
